Asher Adams: Your Ideal Hotel in Downtown Salt Lake City

When people ask me where they should stay in Salt Lake City—whether it’s their first visit or a return trip where they want something special—my answer is immediate: Asher Adams.

I had the chance to visit and personally stay at Asher Adams, and it’s one of those hotels that instantly anchors your entire SLC experience. This isn’t just a place to sleep—it becomes part of the destination.

A Landmark That Tells Salt Lake City’s Story

Asher Adams is housed in the beautifully restored historic Union Pacific Depot, originally built in 1908. Walking into the lobby feels like stepping into a grand moment in time—soaring ceilings, original architectural details, and a sense that you’re standing where generations of travelers once passed through on their way west.

What I love most is how seamlessly the hotel blends that history with modern luxury. It feels intentional, elevated, and deeply connected to the city.

I stayed in the historic tower, and that experience alone is worth booking. The rooms are spacious and refined, with subtle nods to the building’s past balanced by plush bedding, upscale finishes, and a calm, boutique hotel feel. It’s quiet, comfortable, and feels like a true retreat after a day exploring the city.

Location That Makes Exploring Easy

If you want to actually experience Salt Lake City, location matters—and Asher Adams nails it.

You’re steps from:

  • The Delta Center (perfect for games and concerts)
  • TRAX light rail and the Amtrak station
  • Downtown dining, arts, and nightlife
  • Easy access to Temple Square, museums, and event venues

Whether you’re in town for a weekend getaway, a concert, business travel, or a longer stay, you can truly park the car and explore on foot.

Dining & Drinks You Don’t Have to Leave the Hotel For

One of my favorite things about Asher Adams is that it’s a destination even if you never leave the building.

Rouser is the hotel’s signature restaurant, and it’s excellent. The menu leans into bold, modern American flavors with a focus on live-fire cooking in their charcoal powered Josper. It’s the kind of place I’d recommend for a celebratory dinner, a date night, or a memorable meal after arriving in town.

For cocktails and evening ambiance, No. 119 is a standout. It’s moody, stylish, and exactly where you want to end your day, whether that’s with a carefully crafted cocktail or a relaxed nightcap. This excellent venue is located on the second floor with an amazing view of the historic lounge.

There’s also a casual café, Counterpart, for morning coffee and quick bites, which makes early starts or slow mornings equally easy.

Why I Recommend Asher Adams to My Clients

As someone who plans travel professionally, I’m selective about the hotels I recommend—and Asher Adams checks every box:

  • Historic character with modern luxury
  • Central downtown location
  • Excellent dining and bar scene
  • Ideal for couples, solo travelers, business travelers, and celebrations
  • A true “sense of place” hotel that feels uniquely Salt Lake City

It’s polished without being stuffy, historic without feeling dated, and luxurious without being overdone.
